Water Main Break on East-West Highway Causes Discolored Water; E/W Highway Shutdown
East of Connecticut Avenue
WSSC crews are on-site for a water main break on East-West Highway east of Connecticut Avenue between Connecticut and Jones Mill Road. The roadway closure is expected to remain through the evening rush hour and into the evening.
The Village has received calls from Village residents reporting discolored water. All of the calls have been received from residents located east of Connecticut Avenue, however, the Village Hall (located west of Connecticut) also has brown water. WSSC confirms that the water discoloration is a result of the water main break on East-West Highway. Repair crews are on-site evaluating the cause of the break and water service may be interrupted; however, the scope and potential duration of the outage is not known at this time.
As a reminder, please DO NOT run your dishwasher or washing machine if you have discolored water. Laundry could become stained. If this happens, immediately wash the clothes again using a rust remover product. This type of product is available in most supermarkets or WSSC will send you rust remover.
