Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule Beginning Tuesday, January 15
As a result of today’s canceled collection of household trash, this week’s collection schedule for trash AND recycling will slide one day. Therefore:
- Households whose normal collection days are Monday and Thursday will have their trash collected on Tuesday and Friday.
- Households whose normal collection days are Tuesday and Friday will have their trash collected on Wednesday and Saturday.
- Recycling will be collected from households west of Connecticut Avenue on Thursday, January 17.
- Recycling will be collected from households east of Connecticut Avenue on Friday, January 18.
Please note: This revised schedule can be further modified should there be another closure of the Montgomery County Transfer Station on Tuesday, January 15 or as a result of the winter storm forecast for later this week.
With the amount of snow that remains on the ground, it will take collection crews longer to collect the route each day. Please be patient and assist crews by ensuring that the route to access your receptacles is clear and safe. Crews are not permitted to attempt opening gates that may be obstructed by accumulated snow nor are crews permitted to risk injury by accessing icy or unsafe pathways. When in doubt, please pull your receptacles to a more easily accessible location until the snow melts to a more manageable level.
As a reminder, residents are responsible for clearing all snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of or abutting their property within the first forty-eight (48) hours after the cessation of falling snow. Residents who occupy corner lots are responsible for the sidewalk in front of and on the side of their property. Residents abutting Connecticut Avenue and Brookville Road are not required to clear the sections of sidewalk abutting these roadways.
As always, please keep an eye out for blast emails from the Village office or monitor the Village website for updated information throughout the week. Please also encourage your neighbors to sign-up for the Village’s blast emails to receive up-to-date information.
