Speaker Series: Aaron Nix-Gomez,Wine Expert

Aaron is a expert on the history of wine, with a specialty in Madeira and its relationship with the founding fathers of our country. As a rare American inductee in the Confraria do Vinho da Madeira (Brotherhood of Madeira wine) he is the expert sought by the press and auction houses when rare wines are uncovered.
Aaron will discuss the history of Madeira in America during the 18th and 19th centuries. Reviewing the origins of the trade, how it was ordered, the difficulties of shipping, how it was aged, and even how it was hidden away from thirsty soldiers during the Civil War.
We will be tasting Madeira as well as discussing how best to acquire and store rare wines.
