Bait Car Technology and Rapid Police Response Result in Thief's Arrest

At 4:30 a.m. today, our bait car silent alarm was triggered and Village dispatcher Regina Cortez immediately sent our officers to the 5500 block of Center Street.  Ms. Cortez then sent an image of the thief directly to the officers' smart phones.

Officers Willie Hearn and Drew Fones  arrived about a minute later.  Officer Hearn spotted the thief carrying a package which had been stolen from the front porch of a home in the 3900 block of Oliver Street.  Further investigation revealed that a second car had been entered on Oliver Street.  The suspect was arrested on the scene.

The suspect was identified as 39-year old Ramon A. LLOYD of Washington, DC (pictured above right).  Village officers charged him with 1 count of theft, 2 counts of entering a vehicle with the intent to steal, and 2 counts of attempted theft.

Residents are reminded to lock their cars EVER time they park.
