Storm Damage Update:
7/31/2023 as of 10:00 a.m.
Public Works and the Village’s tree maintenance contractor are continuing storm cleanup throughout the Village, concentrated on the west side, which suffered the most damage following Saturday’s storm. Some fallen trees and limbs will require PEPCO’s or the communications companies’ response due to impacted wires.
Storm cleanup will be a slow response given the amount of damage and debris and is expected to continue through this week and into next week. Yard debris from private property should be brought to the curb for collection. Branches should be cut down to no more than 3-4 feet in length.
PEPCO is showing that power has been restored to most of the community, except roughly half a dozen households near Kirkside Drive and Grove Street. If your home remains without power and you are not in this area of the Village, please update the Village Communications Center at (301) 654-7300PEPCO by phone ((877) 737-2662), through their app (available where you download apps or at pepco.com/mobileapp), or by text alert (see below).
As a reminder, NEVER touch or drive over downed utility lines. All downed utility lines are to be treated as if they are live.
To register and send an outage text alert to PEPCO: Text “ADD OUTAGE” to “48710” from a phone linked to your account to register for text alerts. Once registered, during an outage simply text “Out” to “48710” to report your outage (text messaging rates apply).
