National Public Works Week
Please take a moment to recognize our local
Public Works Team This Week
Residents are invited to join us in celebrating our Public Works Department staff during National Public Works Week, May 21-27. This week of recognition is observed across the US and Canada and highlights the importance of public works departments in an organized society. The week-long observation also sheds light on the brave and essential role that public works employees play in our communities.
By definition, public works are the physical and social infrastructure of our communities. Our own Public Works Department consists of six dedicated staff who collect leaves and yard debris, maintain roadways signage, plant trees and shrubs in parks and rights-of-way, remove snow from roadways, respond to downed trees and other damage following storms, setup and cleanup for Village events, support the maintenance and upkeep of the Village’s public infrastructure, and so much more! Village Public Works Director Anthony Young, Supervisor Luis Galindo, and driver/laborers William (Hap) Abernathy, Richard Graves, Deandre Moore, and Clarence Ricks go above and beyond to keep our community safe and beautiful.
Please join us during National Public Works week by taking time to thank our Public Works staff members by approaching them in the community, sending a note of thanks to the Village Hall or sending a treat for the staff to enjoy.
