Persian poet Hafiz

at the Village Hall
Considered Persia’s most influential writer, his works influenced future Persian poets as well as Western writers. Goethe, Thoreau and Emerson drew inspiration from his works and thought of him as the “Poets poet”.
Chevy Chase native Peter Booth (pictured above), a widely published translator of Hafiz will discuss what makes his works so special. Peter has studied at Bard, Harvard as well receiving a scholarship from the Shah to study Persian literature in Iran.
