4th of July Parade & CelebrationLots of Fun for ALL Ages Thank you to the many residents who joined us for this year’s July 4th Parade and Party! The event began at the Village Hall with decorating of bikes, strollers, wagons, scooters and even pets for the parade to the park. The procession included community friend, Tai, in his bright red mustang playing patriotic tunes, a fire engine from the local fire station, officers from the Village Police Department and Miss Paula. Village families decked out in their patriotic finest marched and pedaled along the streets of the Village en route to the Large Oliver Street Park.
At the park, residents enjoyed hot dogs, watermelon, popcorn, cold drinks, and Rita's Italian Ice, and there was a moon bounce, sack races, a cooling mister and doggie play area for attendees to enjoy. A special thanks to the staff, and volunteers—including Grafton Street resident and event grill-master Michael Marsh—who helped to make this year's event a success!
Copies of the 2022 Resident Directory are now available at the Village Hall, limit one per household.

Village Resident Offering Battery-Power Mower Repair Assistance
Ollie Davidson (Oliver Street), a member of the Village’s Environment & Energy Committee, has offered to help neighbors who have a battery-powered mower that may not be in good working condition. As the Village moves toward becoming a quieter neighborhood with the now in effect ban on the use of gas-powered blowers, Ollie is offering to look at any non-working battery mower to identify if it can be (easily) rehabilitated. If so, he can return it to the resident or offer the rehabbed machine to a small lawn service operator.
If you would like some assistance with your old battery-powered mower, Ollie is happy to discuss your options (this offer does not include gas-powered mowers). If you are interested, please reach out to Ollie Davidson directly at PPPartners@comcast.net.

COVID Testing, Masks, and VaccinesWith COVID cases on the rise in our region and nationally, it is important that we remain vigilant in our efforts to stop the spread of the virus which continues to kill the most vulnerable in our communities. Montgomery County issued a PRESS RELEASE earlier this month with tips to protect against further community spread of the virus.
Testing and Masks The Village continues to provide rapid (antigen) test kits and N95 masks. Village residents may stop by the Village office to pick-up up masks and test kits. Read more about the mask and test distribution at the Village Hall and other means of accessing COVID-19 tests.
The rapid COVID test kits distributed by the Village are manufactured by iHealth. The FDA has extended the expiration date printed on the iHealth boxes by three months. EX: If your kit has an expiration date in June, they are now good until September. For more information, visit https://ihealthlabs.com/pages/news. Montgomery County offers free COVID-19 testing and urges those doing at-home tests to report their results.
Vaccines The U.S. Food and Drug Administration amended the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, authorizing the use of a single booster dose for administration to individuals 5 through 11 years of age at least five months after completion of a primary series with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine. To learn more, click here to visit the FDA website.
Children ages 6 months and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave approval last week. Parents should check with their child's pediatrician for additional guidance.
Montgomery County has begun vaccinating children ages 6 months to 5 years old at county clinics by appointment only. COVID-19 vaccinations for individuals ages 5 and up remain available across the state and county.

Alert Your Landscapers: Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers are Banned in the VillageA ban on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers went into effect January 1, 2022. Residents and landscapers are reminded that ALL blowers operated within the Village remain subject to Montgomery County’s Noise Ordinance. The county’s Noise Ordinance states that “a person must not...use a leaf blower at any time that has an average sound level exceeding 70 dBA at a distance of 50 feet.” Additionally, the simultaneous use of multiple leaf blowers that are compliant with the 70 bDA limit can create noise of a sufficient level to qualify as a violation and/or noise disturbance. Residents are responsible for discussing these restrictions with their yard maintenance crews. Click here for more information.
