NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Ordinance to Ban the Use of Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers, eff. January 1, 2022
Monday, December 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

During its regular meeting on Monday, December 9, 2019, the Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers will hold a public hearing to introduce and consider possible adoption of an ordinance to amend Chapter 20 of the Village Code, entitled, “Noise Control”, to ban the use of gas-powered leaf blowers effective January 1, 2022. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
This ordinance is proposed to address the health, environmental and quality-of-life impacts from the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and is intended to mirror the District of Columbia’s recent decision to ban gas-powered blowers as of the same date. Neighboring Chevy Chase-area municipalities are also considering enacting a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers.

The draft ordinance may be obtained at the Chevy Chase Village Office between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, you may download a copy by CLICKING HERE or you may submit a request to the Village office for the draft ordinance to be emailed or mailed to you.
Residents who are unable to attend the Public Hearing on December 9 may submit written testimony for the record before December 9 either by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or directly to the Village office at 5906 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
