District of Columbia's Proposed Plans to Signalize Chevy Chase Circle

Friday, July 6, 2012

The Village Board and staff were alarmed to learn that the District of Columbia is proposing to install traffic signals in the Chevy Chase Circle where vehicles enter in from eastbound and westbound Western Avenue. The Village learned of these plans via a District Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC 3/4G) who was unsuccessful in opposing the ANC's recent vote in support of the proposed signals. The District of Columbia has yet to directly inform the Village, Montgomery County or the Maryland State Highway Administration regarding its plans to signalize the Circle.

Village Staff has spent considerable time over the past few weeks trying to determine the status of this project and the proposed plans. Village staff will provide a report on information it has learned regarding the potential signalization at the Village Board of Managers' meeting on Monday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. Below please find a list of memos and documents on the matter:
