1.      As you may have heard, one of our officers—Deng Tan—was involved in a collision on Thursday, December 15 at about 7:30 p.m.  Thankfully, she is fine—a little sore, but otherwise fine. The other motorist received a minor facial cut and was otherwise fine, as well.

The collision was not her fault.  Officer Tan was driving north on Brookville toward East-West Highway when a minivan pulled out from the stop sign on westbound Thornapple right in front of her cruiser.  The collision forced the cruiser to veer left into a curb, then into a retaining wall and a fence.  The police car overturned and came to rest on its roof in the middle of Brookville Road.

The Montgomery County Police investigated the collision and cited the other driver.  Officer Tan was taken to Suburban Hospital by ambulance, and after a thorough check up, she was released. She will return to work the week of December 26.  We look forward to seeing her back in the Village.

2.      On Thursday, December 22, 2011, Delonte Anthony Greenwald was arrested on the strength of a warrant by a joint task force of the Montgomery County Police and the Prince Georges County Police.  Greenwald is alleged to have committed thefts from autos in the Village and he is believed to be responsible for burglaries in the area, as well.  He was featured on the Village website in September; the link with his image is below. was
