Alarm Permits

The Village Alarm Ordinance requires homeowners who have an alarm system to obtain an "Alarm Permit" decal to be displayed on the house. There is a $10.00 fee for the permit, which is valid for two years. All audible alarm systems must have an automatic shut-off within thirty minutes of activation. It is unlawful for any system installed after January 1, 2003 to emit sound which is audible from anywhere off the property on which it is installed.

Note: Village residents are not required to register alarm systems with Montgomery County. Alarm companies must be registered with Montgomery County or the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) will not accept calls from the respective companies and will not dispatch either Village or Montgomery County Police Officers to the call. Signs displaying the alarm company's name are not permitted on private property if visible from the street.
